SDS Awards October 2009

The Sign Design Society has announced the winners of its 2009 international Awards competition to recognise the best in signing and wayfinding design over the last three years. The prizes were presented at a prestigious ceremony at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London.

Gary Burnham presents an award

The Student Award went to Laura Taplin from Ravensbourne College for a scheme to improve signing on the piste at Les Arcs in the French Alps.
The award reserved exclusively for those training in the profession was presented by
Gary Burnham of Info Sign Systems.

The Public Wayfinding Award went to Mark Ross from Dot Dash, Sydney, Australia. This top prize was awarded for the Moreton Bay Cycleway, a 150 km system running along the Australian East Coast. The presentation was made by Rachel Oliver, Wayfinding design technical leader of BAA.

The scheme for the new offices of the Guardian News and Media in King’s Place London won The Commercial Signing and Identity Award. The winners, Ian Cartlidge and Melissa Price from Cartlidge Levene were presented by Paul Shilling, Group Sales Director for Principle.

Kevin Watkiss from Lea Valley presented the trophy for The Product Innovation and Ideas Award to Ian Cartlidge and Melissa Price from Cartlidge Levene for the signing scheme developed for Selfridges in London.
